Smartphones Gaining Popularity in Asia, Android Killing Symbian

According to Gfk, Germany’s largest market research institute and the fourth largest in the world, the smartphone extravaganza is finally hitting and invading Asia - increasing its popularity to its surrounding countries. The tables are turning as well as Android OS tops off the long-standing champion Symbian in Asia’s most popular OS category.
A huge factor of the Android’s rise to the throne is its massive line of smartphones that were released this year, specifically on both 3rd and 4th quarters. Gfk said that last Q3 of this year, Android dethroned King Symbian in terms of popularity, value, and sales. This is definitely good news for Android. The folks in Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, and Taiwan are putting on their bets for Android to win while the Symbian fanatics in Malaysia and Indonesia are still holding on to the latter. The times are changing indeed.
